The question is very simple, what is your favourite boook? And why? I have also added a small pool about how many books do you read each year.Anyway my favourite is L.A. Confidential written by James Ellroy. It's a very good police story with a intriguing plot, but it's also a masterpiece of politic and social analize. The power games of institutions, the corruption that have attacked police and government and the general undeground atmosphere are the pillars fo this beautiful book. It is

I've just finished reading Eragon and now I'm moving on to read Eldest, and I gotta say, what a great book! It's a fantasy novel by Christopher Paolini about a young boy about 15 years old who finds a blue stone. It turns out to be a dragon inside and he and his dragon, Saphira, travel the world seeking revenge for the death of his family. The story unfolds as he forms alliances and enemies and travels to exotic locations. I'll not say anything else in case someone is only a

So, what do people actually think's going to happen in the last book, now the sixth one is out of the way. Personally I think that Hogwarts will stage the final battle between Voldemort and the others and they'll be all the magical creatures fighting each other etc. What do other people think? Or do people just read the books and take in what happens then?

Me and my girlfriend are both pretty big movie buffs, but at the same time love to read. Lately we've been having a pretty big discussion about our distaste for books being turned into movies. The most recent "big" book title to be turned into a movie is, one of our favorite book series, Twilight. Twilight is an amazing book and I'm really looking forward to the movie. She, however, is very upset that they decided to make the book into a movie as it will "ruin her view o

Fitzgerald depicts the 1920’s as a time of decay social and moral values, evidence of this is the greed and the pursuit of pleasure. Jay Gatsby’s constant parties epitomized the corr

I also really like Anne Rice's books. I love her dark alternate universe where she writes as if homosexuality were normal and stuff. Sometimes she'll have her characters actually take credit for the books she made in her stories. I think she's interesting. What do You all think?

What Are Some Good Short Stories?
I used to read a lot years ago, but as the Internet got more interesting, I stopped reading before bed, heck, I stopped going to bed! I'm thinking that I should start reading a bit more, something other than Wikipedia (Heh, anyone else a Wiki addict like me?) and short stories seems like a good place to kick-start my interest in reading. Has anyone ever read Peter and the Star Catchers? Its a really good book and I suggest it to anyone who actually knows how to read. If you likes peter pan then I'm sure that you'll like this book. It basically tells you how peterpan came to neverland and learned how to fly and how he met up with captain hook. I really hope that it gets made into a movie that way I can watch it in motion pictures instead of having to read it every time I get an urge to read/watch the adventures of peter p

Maximum Ride: Saving The World And Other Extreme Sports
Well, I saw this book a couple days ago in the book store for 16.95$. Considering I thought that was expensive, I bought it off amazon for 8.53$. Waiting for it to come. In the meantime, I wanted to get some opinions on this book and the other two. I, for one, thought they were really well written and sometimes really funny Although I find this title terrible and he couldnt have picked a worse one >_<If youve seen the cover, its interesting that you get to see Fang for the first

Well, recently in my Pre AP Language Arts class, we started reading a book called The Giver. At first I thought it was completely stupid and pointless but when you start to read more of it you just can't put the book down. I wouldn't recomend somebody younger than the age of 12 reading it, because it is sort of complex, but after a while you understand it.Honestly, I can say that this book changed my oppinion on reading. I used to HATE reading. I despised it so. So now this lady is makin
